2024-2025 MBHS Music Audition Materials
Auditions are for our advanced music ensembles at MBHS. We also offer an entry level classes including the Concert Band, String Orchestra and Concert Choir with no audition requirement. Talk to your counselor to sign up for an entry level class.
Please submit all audition materials through the Audition Form at the bottom of the page no later than March 3rd, 2024.
ATTENTION: When opening links please use your PERSONAL email account. District student accounts are sometimes blocked. You should NOT need to ask permission to open folders.
IMPORTANT: Please read the "READ ME" file before you look at the audition pieces. Submit the Audition Form below with links when you have completed all items.
*Students will be notified of their placement by early May.
Symphony Orchestra* - Audition material here
The Symphony Orchestra, also known as the “Full Orchestra,” is open to all 9th-12th advanced wind string and percussion students. This is our top Wind Ensemble and Orchestra all mixed into one! The class focuses on performing professional classical literature.

Mambo Orchestra**
Do you like Salsa and other Latin Dance music?! This is one of the most exciting bands on campus. Students will have the opportunity to learn and perform the traditional and dance music of Cuba, Puerto Rico and other Latin American countries.
The Preservationists**
This is the premier jazz ensemble at Mission Bay. If music is your calling, this is the class for YOU! Students perform advanced traditional jazz in various settings including: jazz festivals, radio and TV performances, out of state performances and much more. Past trips include New Orleans and Japan!
Vocalists - Audition Material Here
All singers have the opportunity to audition for the Preservationists, Mambo Orchestra and Swing Choir.
If auditioning for Preservationists or Swing Choir, complete the JAZZ VOCAL material. All ensembles are for advanced vocal students with choir experience.
If Auditioning for the Mambo Orchestra, complete the “Vocal Auditions Mambo”

* Open to the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, upright bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn, baritone, tuba and all percussion.
** Open to the following instruments: flute, violin, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass (jazz), drum set and percussion. Singers are also welcome to audition.
Students are able to audition for multiple ensembles.
